The Road to Humble

Marriage is a humbling phenomenon. One day you decide to live the rest of your life with someone; the organ chimes, the kiss is had, confetti thrown -- pure bliss. That single moment, though very monumental, is just the tip of the iceberg.

Marriage has been the road to humble. You see, I married my opposite. Every single day I am reminded of that, and every single day I choose to love it even when I don’t like it. The world today says, “Stand up for yourself; don’t bend. Be you.” -- and trust me, I am all about living authentically and being the person you were meant to be. But with marriage, I believe we need to bend and mold, respectfully, in order for the marriage to become what God has intended it to be.

I wouldn’t be the person I am without the marriage I have; the kind that bends and molds. Marriage is hard. Marriage is fun. Marriage is comforting. Marriage is love. Marriage is worth the bend; don’t let the world tell you otherwise.
